Many grand old movie theatres have gone by the wayside to be replaced by the standard cardboard cutout cinemas that we find in shopping malls. However, the Mayan Theatre is one of a handful of theatres that still shows movies.
Built in 1930, the Mayan Theatre has three screens and features the finest independent films and foreign films in Denver, while still offering some current releases. It is located in the heart of Denver, surrounded by art galleries, small shops and restaurants. The theatre’s elaborate art deco design is a welcome diversion from other generic movie houses. |
